Lithium-ion batteries go to “Hard -to- dispose -Waste”

Disposal process at Iwakuni City Recycle Plaza has been stopped due to the fire caused by batteries. Please be sure to take out the battery packs for mobile equipment – cellphones and the like– and other batteries to “Hard-to-dispose-Waste”.

Prefecture-wide Traffic Safety Campaign during Year-end and New- year

It is feared that a spike of traffic during year-end and new-year holidays may trigger serious traffic accidents, to include fatal ones. Everyone must be extra attentive to the traffic safety so as not to become a victim or a perpetrator.

Enforced period: Dec. 10 (Mon)-Jan. 3 (Thu)

Objectives:
○ Promotion of use of reflectors and high-beam
○ Promotion of Speed-down
○ Prevention of traffic accidents involving children and elderly
○ Promotion of safe-use of bicycle
○ Thorough enforcement of “buckle-up”
○ Eradication of drunk driving

Iwakuni Station’s Underground Passage to Become Accessible

Starting from Dec. 1 (Sat), Iwakuni Station’s underground passage will become accessible. It had been closed since last November.  Bicyclists! , please use the renewed underground passage.

Vendors Wanted for Iwakuni Friendship Flea Market

This flea market offers both residents of USMCAS Iwakuni and local citizens a chance to interact with each other through buying and selling.

Date and time: Feb 3 (Sun), 10:00-15:00 (Carrying-in hours will be notified separately.)

Place: Culture Center, Atago Sports Complex

Number of vendors wanted:
○ Sale of goods, food and drink= 60 booths (one booth size:3mx3m, no cooking allowed)
○ Kitchen Truck=10
※ Large retailers are not allowed to be a vendor.
※ Entry of the vendor that deals with a certain item(s) may be denied. Food/drink vendors must present the permit from public health department.

Cost for booth:
○ Sale of goods, food and drink= 3,000yen ○ Kitchen Truck=3,500yen

Signup period: From 10:00, Dec.3 (Mon) – 12:00, Dec.28 (Fri)
※ Applications will be reviewed for selection of vendors until the capacity is reached.

Friendly Morning Market at Local Wholesale Market

※ Market closes when everything is sold out.
